Designer Series Paper Samplers - mailed out

All of the Designer Series Paper samplers have been mailed out. They were mailed priority yesterday, so everyone in the first group should have theirs tomorrow (Friday) or Saturday.

I cut all of the samples 2x6 inches. Last year, the samples were cut at graduated lengths (6, 5.5, 5, 4.5, 4 and 3.5) so that you could see a little of each when stacked.

This year, I had quite a few requests for all the papers to be the same size. There were a number of reasons, but you can choose your favorite and do with it what you like best.

1. I want to cut the paper myself because I want certain designs to be the longest. I'd like to show off some papers more than others.

2. I'd like to actually be able to use my samples without worrying that my favorite was cute down to 3.5 inches.

3. The new textured papers are so beautiful that I can just see them as bookmarks when you are done using them as samplers.

4. Some people wanted the samples put together with brads for easier fanning. 

5. Some people didn't want the samplers put together with eyelets because last year that made them way too thick to put on a ring.

So, all these things said, I hope that everyone is happy with their samplers and what they can do with them in the way they were shipped.

I will post a picture of the samplers as soon as I can find my camera. I dropped it in the 12 inches of snow we had yesterday. I found it, but I put it somewhere safe to dry out. How come we can never remember where that "somewhere safe" is located?

Pink Flamingo -- what does a whole sheet look like

Hopefully you all have a new catalog by now to look at. There are so many wonderful new accessories. One of my favorite areas is always the new selection of Designer Series Papers, also known as DSPs. 

I purchased all of the new DSPs for my paper sampler swap (which is almost ready to be mailed out). 

I photographed all of the new DSPs before I cut them up. Sometimes it is very interesting to see what an entire sheet of a certain DSP looks like. The tiny little picture in the book doesn't really give you a very good idea of some of the patterns. Click on each picture below to see a larger image.

Today I am featuring the Pink Flamingo DSP. This is one of Shelli's Signature Collection papers.

The colors that coordinate with this DSP are Chcolate Chip, Real Red, Summer Sun, Cameo Coral and Tempting Turquoise.

Color Challenge #38

I like participating in challenges. It makes me think outside "the box" of what I normally design.

Here is my creation for Color Challenge #38, with everything I used (except the Cuttlebug Dots folder and the Big Shot).

Stampin' Up Texturz -- a little more information

I love the look of Cuttlebug embossing folders. They are a great addition to cards. The only thing I dont' like about the Cuttlebug embossing folders, is the size. I usually make traditional 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cards. This is a regular sheet of cardstock, cut in half and then folded.

When you emboss a sheet of cardstock with a cuttlebug folder, your image is significantly less than the front of the card. Thus, you have to trim it down and it won't cover the whole front of your card.

But now....Stampin' Up Texturz plates by Sizzix!!!

These plates have two designs on each plate...bonus! over the one sided Cuttlebug embossing folders. You receive 3 plates, for a total of six images, for $11.95 (for exclusive SU images for $9.95 for standard Sizzix images). What a value!

Stampin' Up New Product - Circle Scissor Plus

Stampin' Up has had the Coluzzle circle cutter for years. I really like it, but I know that there are a  number of folks out there that do not like. You will be glad to know that something new and better is here.

I love tools and gadgets that make my projects easier.

The Circle Scissor Plus cuts and draws circles from 1" to 6"

Sizzix Texturz coming to Stampin' Up

Of all of the wonderful new items in the Spring/Summer 2009 Stampin' Up catalog. My favorite is the collection of Stampin' Up exclusive Texturz plates that can be used with your Big Shot Die Cut machine.

Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 feature 3 plates with 6 different designs...a small argyle, floral with dotted trails, big polka dots, small polka dots, a pretty swirly design and a brocade.

Although, I can't show you the exclusive designs until Monday, I can show you this video that shows how the plates work.

Lily the Fairy

I made these two cards using a digital image, provided by Pink Cat Studio Blog.

I have been having a lot of fun with digi images. I print them out on my HP printer. If I want them on watercolor paper, I just use my light box and trace with a permanent pen.
